Dr. Roi Dagan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his medical training and residency at the University of Florida, College of Medicine and was Chief Resident Physician from 2011-2012. Dr. Dagan is the physician lead for the head and neck program and the ocular tumor program and also treats brain and spine tumors at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute.
Dr. Dagan has published over 65 peer-reviewed publications since 2001 and written or contributed to more than 11 book chapters. He has presented his research and given educational presentations at over 45 meetings. Dr. Dagan has extensive teaching experience as the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute’s Adult Proton Fellowship Program Director, and also serves as an associate director of the UF Radiation Oncology Residency program.
Dr. Dagan’s passion for improving patient outcomes is shown through his focus on compassionate, evidence-based patient care, education and clinical research. He received the Roentgen Society Resident Research award in 2012, was distinguished as the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology UF Outstanding Resident Educator in 2020-2021, and received the Department of Radiation Oncology Medical Student and Community Education Award in 2017 and 2018. He was named as a Florida “Top Doctor” in Radiation Oncology in 2021 and 2022. He also serves as an exam writer and oral board examiner for the American Board of Radiology, Radiation Oncology board certification exams.

Dr. Dagan’s research focuses on the treatment of head & neck cancers, ocular cancers and oligometastatic disease. He has published research outcomes on multiple head and neck cancers including oropharyngeal cancer, nasal cavity cancers and paranasal sinus cancers in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology and International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics. Dr. Dagan is studying treatment options to improve the management of HPV-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell cancers. He is also researching ways to identify patients who may benefit from radiation dose de-intensification (fewer treatments) in order to reduce toxicity and side effects while still maintaining effective treatment outcomes.
