The University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI), located in Jacksonville, Florida, has an opening for Referral Coordinator. The Referral Coordinator is responsible for requesting, monitoring and obtaining Insurance approvals for patients treatment, pre/post treatment testing and follow-up care. Processes advanced requests for benefit coverage involving multiple payor types to include Commercial, Employer Funded, Managed Care, Medicaid and Medicare. Serves as the key communicator in the referral process between the patient, physician, insurance company and referring office. 

Qualified candidate must have two to five years’ experience working with third party payors for insurance verification, network benefits, contract review, negotiation requests and clerical or customer service experience in a healthcare facility. Minimum of one year experience in processing referrals required. Prior experience obtaining authorizations and pre-certifications and data input to computer required. Knowledge of medical terminology, effective interpersonal and communication skills, ability to prioritize work and effective organizational skills required. Prior experience in Radiation Oncology strongly preferred. Prior experience working with ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
